Get ready to celebrate our culture with a vibrant initiative under the Title V Developing Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI) Grant at WNMU, Con Ganas! We’re excited to invite you to participate in a linoleum print workshop from Los Angeles- based art collective Kalli Arte to be hosted in McCray Gallery Room 105. Linoleum block printing, or linocut, is a relief printing technique where a design is carved into a block of linoleum. The carved block is then inked, and the ink is transferred to paper under pressure to create a print.
Kalli Arte shares:
“As community artists, we believe deeply in accessibility and direct engagement. Much of our work centers on printmaking and public art because these forms allow us to communicate widely and invite our community into the creative process. We see our work as a mirror that reflects our neighborhood’s struggles, resilience, and shared history. Whether addressing social justice, cultural pride, or the everyday beauty of our surroundings, our murals and prints tell stories that belong to all of us.”
Check out Kalli Arte Prints here, also will be available for sale and viewing at our Hispanic Heritage Celebration on September 19th. Come join the fun and immerse yourself in the rich culture and heritage that makes our community so special! Free to WNMU Students, sign up required , no experience required.
